Common questions
Get quick answers while onboarding your team.
Before you start
- Your company website address
- Access to your product if you will install the widget
- The accounts you want to connect, such as Slack, WhatsApp, or the MCP servers your bot should use
You don't need a payment method, a production deployment, or a published bot to enter your workspace.
1. Sign up
Sign up with Google or with your email and a password. Onboarding opens right after signup.
2. Share your website
Onboarding is a conversation with Landed's setup assistant. Enter your website and the assistant:
- Reads your public pages and public search results.
- Saves your workspace name, URL, and a short description.
- Shows what it saved under Saved details, with the sources it used.
If your website doesn't say enough, the assistant offers a GitHub repository, a public document link, or a short description you write yourself.
You can edit your profile and workspace details directly at any time. Your edits are kept, even when the assistant is still working.
On a phone, the conversation comes first. Use Details and Chat at the top to switch between them.
3. Choose your channels
Choose every way customers reach you: Widget, Email, Slack, and WhatsApp. The assistant then guides setup for each channel you chose:
- Widget: copy the install steps or the coding-agent prompt, then send a test message. Production verification updates after you deploy and never blocks onboarding. See widget installation.
- Email: confirm each address as hosted or custom. Custom addresses show forwarding and DNS steps with their real status. See email channels.
- Slack: connect Slack once, then choose the customer Slack channels and their organizations. See Slack.
- WhatsApp: link your own WhatsApp account and, if you want, an additional account for your bot to send from. Only the groups and direct chats you select enter Landed. For account safety, WhatsApp sends from a newly linked or reconnected account start 24 hours after linking, so you can assign the bot's account to your bot once that wait ends. Onboarding lists it under Still to do until then.
Each channel shows its actual state. Choose Finish later for anything that is still waiting.
4. Prepare your first bot
The assistant prepares a bot draft from what it learned about your business:
- Review the candidate knowledge. The bot uses only items you approve.
- Run dry previews of example scenarios. Previews never send a message or change anything outside Landed.
- Optionally choose MCP tools for the bot. Connecting a service doesn't give any bot access to it.
- Publish when you are ready, or decide later. WhatsApp bots start by answering only when someone addresses them.
Importing work from tools such as Linear is optional. Your workspace starts clean, and you confirm a short preview before anything is imported.
5. Enter your workspace
The summary lists your profile, workspace, channels, first bot, imports, and anything still to do. Select Enter workspace and finish setup later to start your 14-day free trial.
You can return to Onboarding from the workspace menu at any time to finish installation, connect another channel, or change your bot. Your trial dates stay the same.
6. Send your first feedback
Send a test message from the widget, an email channel, a customer Slack channel, or a selected WhatsApp chat.
Expected result:
- Landed creates or continues a conversation.
- A customer-visible conversation message from the customer appears on the thread.
- The conversation shows up in Inbox for your team to reply, capture, or turn into a request.
7. Run your first triage cycle
- Open Inbox.
- Review the conversation thread.
- Accept or create sourced requests, then link them to an issue when work should start.
- Assign, snooze, or mark the conversation done.
Follow the full workflow in triage and prioritization.
